Pride Month: Shifting the conversation with Nina Peyrot
Nina Peyrot shares how pride and authenticity guide her efforts to foster inclusivity at work.
At Sabre, we are committed to embracing and celebrating our diversity. In this inclusion & engagement series, Shifting the Conversation, our people share their stories to engage in open dialog and shed light on their broad, rich and unique perspectives. In celebration of Pride Month, Nina Peyrot, Senior Sales Enablement Specialist and a proud leader of our global Pride LGBTQ+ inclusion group, shares how pride and authenticity guide her efforts to foster inclusivity at work.
I don’t have a dramatic coming out story. No tense conversations. No need to “break the news” to those I love. Being myself has always felt natural, quietly accepted and safe. For that I’m incredibly grateful.
In many ways, my experience was a gentle one, a soft landing in a world where not everyone has the same cushion. I was never asked to shrink who I was or weigh the risk of being authentic. That freedom is a privilege, and I recognize it every day.
I remember a small moment from my teenage years that stayed with me. I had a crush on someone, and on a casual afternoon I told my mom with no buildup or testing the waters. I just said it like it was the most normal thing in the world. She didn’t pause or flinch. She simply said, “They’re lucky you like them.” That was it, no speech, no big reaction, just warmth and normalcy – I didn’t realize until much later that this experience was rare. That moment didn’t just affirm who I was. It shaped how I want others to feel around me. Seen without spectacle. Loved without conditions. Safe without needing to earn it.
So no, this isn’t a coming out story. It’s a staying in story. Staying in a place of love, self-respect and the belief that everyone deserves to feel this safe. My pride shows up in how I advocate for others to walk just as freely, how I hold space for all identities whether whispered or shouted and how I know that celebrating who we are should never require justification.
Today that advocacy is quiet but intentional. It’s in the inclusive language I choose, how I support colleagues when they share their stories and how I gently challenge assumptions or create space in conversations where someone might feel left out. I don’t always get it right. Sometimes I make assumptions or catch myself mid-sentence and realize I need to rephrase. Like everyone else, I’m still learning and that’s okay. What matters is the intention to grow, to listen and to do better each time.
It’s not always loud, but it’s always there, because pride isn’t a spotlight. Sometimes, it’s just the steady glow that helps others feel seen.
I am proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, not despite my easy path, but because I want that ease for everyone.
