A passport to success: Shifting the conversation with Tejas Kittur

Tejas Kittur reflects on how his internship experience shaped his mindset and skills through curiosity, collaboration and mentorship.

At Sabre, we are committed to embracing and celebrating our diversity. In this inclusion & engagement series, Shifting the Conversation, our people share their stories to engage in open dialog and shed light on their broad, rich and unique perspectives. Join us as Tejas Kittur, now a Product Manager in Bengaluru, India, reflects on how his internship experience shaped his mindset and skills through curiosity, collaboration and mentorship.

My name is Tejas, I was born and raised in Pune, India and I’m a recent computer science and engineering graduate from Manipal Institute of Technology in India. This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with Sabre as part of the Continuous Revenue Optimization (CRO) team, and the experience has been nothing short of transformative.

Before my internship officially began, Sabre Bengaluru hosted a comprehensive two-week onboarding bootcamp. These sessions offered a deep dive into the company’s business, products and culture. The program also featured interactive activities, cross functional learning opportunities and social events that helped us build connections from the beginning. By the time I joined my team I felt well-equipped and supported to begin contributing to my team.

I joined the CRO team, which supports the development of products that help airlines make real-time, data-driven pricing decisions. At first glance, the products seem complex and hard to understand, but with time, mentorship and lots of curiosity, I began to understand just how significant CRO is in shaping airline revenue pricing strategies and enhancing the traveler experience.

What I appreciated most at Sabre was the people. From my first day I felt welcomed and supported. My manager, teammates, mentors and senior leaders were approachable and intentional about offering guidance. Being surrounded by smart, creative and driven individuals pushed me to think more critically, challenge assumptions and bring fresh ideas to the table. Sabre encourages diverse thinking and I found that my approach to problem-solving, looking at challenges and contributions were truly valued.

One of the highlights of my internship was participating in the Sabre Intern Hackathon. Interns from different teams came together to collaborate on real-world challenges, pitch innovative ideas and build functional prototypes all in a matter of days. This experience showcased the power of cross-functional teamwork and the kind of innovation that can happen when people bring unique strengths to the table.

If I could share one piece of advice with future interns, it would be this: stay curious. Don’t shy away from asking questions or stepping into the unknown, because that’s where the real growth happens. There is always room to learn, and even more room to grow. My internship taught me so much more than how a product works. I learned how to ask better questions, think like a teammate and understand how real-world tech products are built and scaled.

As I reflect on my internship, I’m grateful for the mentorship, the friendships and the professional growth I’ve experienced. What began as an internship grew into something even more meaningful when I was offered a full-time role. I’m thrilled about the opportunity to grow my career at Sabre, which has played a meaningful role in shaping my perspective—not just as an engineer but as a collaborator and problem-solver.

As for my passport to success, I aspire to keep learning and growing both personally and professionally, while continuing to support my team and contribute meaningfully.

Sabre is shifting the conversation with stories from curious, bold and committed team members globally.
