A passport to success: Shifting the conversation with Carolina Della Nave

Carolina Della Nave shares how her internship empowered her to grow through support, collaboration and embracing her unique perspective.

At Sabre, we are committed to embracing and celebrating our diversity. In this inclusion & engagement series, Shifting the Conversation, our people share their stories to engage in open dialog and shed light on their broad, rich and unique perspectives. Join us as we follow Carolina Della Nave, an intern in Sabre’s Montevideo, Uruguay office, as she shares how her internship empowered her to grow through support, collaboration and embracing her unique perspective.

My name is Carolina Della Nave. I’m twenty-one years old and currently a senior at the Universidad ORT Uruguay, where I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing and commercial management. As part of my degree program, I needed to complete an internship with an accredited company. I started exploring opportunities in industries I’ve always been passionate about, especially travel and that’s how I found my way to Sabre. I’m now working as an Agency Sales Operations intern on the Sales Operations team in Montevideo, Uruguay. Sabre felt like the perfect fit, combining innovation, global perspective and a strong presence in the travel industry.

When I first heard I was selected for this opportunity, I felt a mix of emotions, excitement and doubt. I wasn’t sure if I had the technical skills needed for this internship or if I would measure up alongside other interns. But, from the very beginning, with my team’s support and Sabre’s culture completely changed my perspective. My team took the time to help me understand how things work here at Sabre and where I could add value. They continuously encouraged me to trust my own ideas and learn at my own pace and that made all the difference, setting the stage for a truly rewarding experience.

Outside of work and my college studies, I really enjoy spending time in nature, going out with friends and having meaningful conversations. Volunteering is also something I’m passionate about and it has shown me how important it is to uplift people’s unique strengths and create spaces where everyone feels confident to contribute. This approach has naturally aligned with my experience at Sabre. From day one, my teammates have made me feel empowered to share my ideas and ways of working, while encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone and try new approaches. This supportive environment has made my internship both challenging and rewarding, providing a space where I feel valued and continuously encouraged to grow.

One project that really made me feel empowered was when I got the opportunity to improve an existing process within a new area. I collaborated across teams to automate workflows for Sabre Direct Pay initiatives, streamlining operations and driving greater efficiency. It wasn’t just that my ideas were genuinely heard, but I also learned so much from the perspectives and expertise of others on the team, as well as the technical steps involved in implementing the project. That experience made Sabre’s value of be empowered feel very real to me. Whether it was sharing ideas, collaborating on solutions or being open to feedback, I’ve come to understand that empowerment is about being true to yourself while feeling supported to grow and challenge yourself.

If I could offer one piece of advice to the next group of interns stepping into this journey, it would be this: bring your full self and trust your unique perspective. Lean into the support around you, ask questions freely and don’t be afraid to share new ideas.

Looking ahead, my “Passport to Success” is about continuous learning and growth, both personally and professionally. I hope it leads me to new opportunities where I can keep building on what I’ve learned here, contribute meaningfully and make an impact. I’m excited for what comes next, knowing that the confidence Sabre has given me will be with me every step of the way.
