A passport to success: Shifting the conversation with Armaan Gill

Armaan Gill shares how curiosity and drive helped shape his path forward, guiding his growth and passion for cybersecurity.

At Sabre, we are committed to embracing and celebrating our diversity. In this inclusion & engagement series, Shifting the Conversation, our people share their stories to engage in open dialog and shed light on their broad, rich and unique perspectives. Join us as we explore the journey of Armaan Gill, a returning intern in Southlake, Texas, who shares how curiosity and drive have shaped his path forward.

My name is Armaan Gill and I’ve had the privilege of working as a Cybersecurity Engineer Intern on Sabre’s Application Security team this summer. I first interned at Sabre last year as part of the 2024 internship program, in the same team and role. From the start, I was drawn to the company’s culture, a place where innovation thrives and people are empowered to bring their most authentic selves to work. That spirit deeply resonated with me and played a big role in my decision to return.

Now in my second year, it’s incredibly rewarding to come back with more confidence, build on everything I learned last summer, and collaborate once again with such an inspiring team.

Growing up I was always the kind of person who gave 110% to everything—whether it was competing in sports, diving into a new hobby or studying for school. That mindset shaped my discipline and determination early on. When I began my internship, I knew that same drive would help me tackle challenges head-on and contribute meaningfully to the team.

A pivotal moment in my journey came when I decided to change my major during my first year of college. I knew I wanted a future in tech, but I wasn’t yet confident about which direction to take. Rather than rushing into a decision, I gave myself the space to explore, learn, test and discover where my true passions lie.

That choice to stay curious changed everything. Before I knew it, I was fully immersed in learning the fundamentals of computer science and cybersecurity. What started as cautious curiosity quickly grew into genuine excitement for solving real-world problems and protecting our digital data. Since then, I’ve been driven to keep expanding my knowledge, staying on top of new threats and tools, and challenging myself to keep growing as a cybersecurity professional.

“Be driven” isn’t just a value here at Sabre, it’s something I’ve carried with me every single day. It showed up in my mindset, keeping me focused and motivated to learn even when things felt unfamiliar. It showed up in my teamwork, as I reached out to others for insights and shared what I was learning. And it showed up in my contributions, because I knew that staying curious and committed would help me grow personally and professionally

If I could offer one piece of advice to future interns, it would be this: don’t blend in or settle. Be driven to become the best version of yourself and never be afraid to ask questions. Your curiosity and determination are your greatest tools.

What does my passport to success look like? It’s a journey of continuous learning, growth and meaningful impact. From here, I hope it leads me deeper into the world of cybersecurity, where I can help build safer, more resilient systems and maybe even inspire the next driven intern along the way.

Sabre is shifting the conversation with stories from curious, bold and committed team members globally.
